What to Do If Guest Event Checkout Fails

Walk through the common checkout failures: card declined, extensions, weak network, old browser.

If paid event registration fails at checkout, it's almost always one of a handful of issues — most are easy to work through.

Common causes

Card declined. Check that:

  • The card number, expiration, and CVC are correct.
  • The card hasn't expired or been replaced.
  • Your bank isn't blocking the charge — some banks flag small merchant charges. Call your bank or try a different card.

Browser extensions interfere. Some privacy/ad-blocker extensions break Stripe Checkout. Try in an incognito window or temporarily disable extensions.

Weak network. If your Wi-Fi is unstable, the checkout can time out. Try cell data or a different network.

Browser too old. Stripe Checkout requires a modern browser. Update Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge to the latest version.

Try again

  1. Refresh the event page.
  2. Start registration from scratch (don't use the back button).
  3. Double-check your card details.
  4. If it fails a second time, try a different browser or device.

When to contact us

If the charge went through but you didn't get a confirmation, contact us with:

  • The event name and date
  • The email you used
  • The charge amount and card issuer

We can see in Stripe whether the payment succeeded and manually confirm your registration if needed.
